Summary:Numerical analysis of thermal convection inside a channel with a porous insert filled with a viscous incompressible fluid has been performed. The governing equations formulated using dimensionless stream function, vorticity and temperature have been solved by the finite difference method of the second order accuracy. Numerical analysis has been conducted in a wide range of governing parameters including Reynolds number, Darcy number and porosity. The obtained results allow understanding the flow structure and temperature fields for different heat transfer modes.
