Die gastroenterologische Infektiologie erfährt derzeit einen rasanten Bedeutungszuwachs durch die weitreichenden Resistenzprobleme infolge des häufig ungezielten Einsatzes von Antibiotika (insbesondere MRGN), der zunehmenden Herausforderung einer alternden Bevölkerung mit steigender Komorbidität und Infektionsanfälligkeit sowie durch die besonderen Herausforderungen von migrationsassoziierten Infektionskrankheiten. Komplexe Interventionen in der Hochleistungsmedizin mit ihren spezifischen Infektionsrisiken stellen besondere Anforderungen an das Komplikationsmanagement und die Infektionsprävention. Nicht zuletzt dürfte auch die Mikrobiomforschung neue Ansätze für das Krankheitsverständnis und die Therapiemöglichkeiten von gastrointestinalen Infektionen generieren, wie der bereits als Behandlungsoption bei rezidivierender Clostridium difficile-Infektion etablierte fäkale Mikrobiomtransfer zeigt. | ||
