| Summary: | To date, the question of the significance of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in the emergence and development of lung cancer remains open. The available published literature data, due to the inconsistency of the results obtained, do not provide convincing evidence of the participation of HPV in the pathogenesis of this oncopathology. And in Russia, studies on determining the role of this virus in the carcinogenesis of lung cancer are not found at all. In the present study, we assessed the prevalence of HPV among patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study included 109 patients with primary operable non-small cell lung cancer stage IIB-IIIA. As a result, the presence of HPV was detected in 3 patients (10.0%) and in 27 patients (90.0%) the virus was not detected in the tumor. Assessment of the degree of integration of the virus in HPV16-positive patients with lung cancer showed that a mixed and integrated form of the virus was detected in the tumor tissue of patients. Metastatic-free survival analysis showed that all patients with HPV in tumor tissue have a 100% 5-year survival rate. |
