Section 1 of this book discusses on evolution of obstetrics, anatomy of female genital tract, the bony pelvis, fetus and fetopelvic relations, history-taking and examination of the pregnant patient and patient-doctor communication. Physiology of reproduction, placenta, umbilical cord and fetal membranes, maternal anatomical and physiological changes in pregnancy, immunology of normal pregnancy, diagnosis of pregnancy and antenatal care are some of the aspects associated with normal pregnancy are explained in detail in Section 2 and Section 3 discusses about abnormal pregnancy. Normal and abnormal labor are emphasized in Section 4 and 5 respectively. Normal puerperium and abnormal puerperium are discussed in detail in Section 6. Several disorders associated with pregnancy such as preconceptional counseling, anemia, heart disease, diabetes and other endocrine disorders, hypertension, renal disorders, liver and pancreatic diseases, respiratory disorders and rh-isoimmunization are detailed in Section 7. Important topics such as Ethics and the Disposal of Biomedical Waste are also explained.
