Community medicine is an important branch of medical science for any country. While all other branches in medical sciences largely focus on managing the patients, community medicine focuses on managing health of all the members of community residing in the region. In this textbook, the chapters and topics are grouped in five sections. The topics progress from the development of basic understanding of the individual health and disease to understanding the community health and dynamics of diseases/health problems in the community. It further provides the understanding of principles and methods to manage health of the community through healthcare delivery system. Lastly, it describes 'How the health of people of India is being managed'.
