These changes have improved our knowledge and understanding of the diagnosis and management of oral and maxillofacial surgical problems. The basic aim of this textbook "Textbook of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery" is to incorporate this updated information and provide a concise description of various oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures and current concepts and contemporary information. This textbook is divided into 18 sections and comprises of total 53 chapters. The 1st section includes eight chapters which comprise an introduction to oral and maxillofacial surgery, art of diagnosis and diagnostic imaging, management of medically compromised patients in oral surgery, armamentarium used in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and suturing materials. 2nd section is dedicated to local anesthesia-related information, which is very useful in day today practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery. General anesthesia and sedation in oral and maxillofacial surgery are covered in the 3rd section. Exodontia and minor oral surgical procedures are discussed in 4th section. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma, preprosthetic surgery, cysts and tumors of the orofacial region, and salivary gland disorders are covered in 5th-10th section. The 11th section discusses the management of cleft lip and palate congenital deformity, which brings about esthetic and functional problems. 12th section is dedicated to giving information about maxillary sinus and its various afflictions and management. Management of orofacial and neck infections are described in 13th section. Facial neuropathology, oral malignancies, implantology in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and management of medical emergencies are covered in 14th-17th sections. The last section of this textbook discusses the most recent advances in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery with lot of illustrations. | ||
